Tomb Raider: Legend is the fifth installment in the Lara Croft franchise, which was released in 2006 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game was developed by Core Design in conjunction with Eidos Interactive and published by Square Enix. It was an extremely popular game around the time of its release, but it wasn't enough to save Core Design from being closed down later down the line. It's not necessary to play the previous Tomb Raider games since this is a reboot of sorts of all previous Tomb Raiders except for Angel of Darkness. The game's story revolves around Lara Croft on an expedition to find some ancient relics on some uncharted island that happens to be situated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Her journey will take her through lush jungles, through some mysterious temple ruins, underwater caverns and many more places. The game starts off with Lara arriving at a small village area on some islands which are supposedly situated in the Pacific Ocean. She is greeted by a mysterious man called Mathias who is looking for someone to help him retrieve an ancient relic located deep within an uncharted island which he calls "Shangri-La". That relic is only known as "Auric Vortex". Lara agrees to go in search for this relic and begins her journey which will take her across the island where she will meet many people. There is a whole back story that involves previous expeditions to the island and how they had either disappeared or were killed by some unknown force. After Lara has found the Vortex, Mathias reveals himself to be an evil guy who plans to use it for his own nefarious purposes. He also tries to kill Lara with some sort of huge sea monster which she subdues and destroys (after a long and exciting battle). The gameplay of Tomb Raider: Legend is similar in style and playability like in most other Tomb Raider games although this one is much more action-packed than any of them. eccc085e13
